Nestled in the northwestern part of Heilongjiang Province, Wudalianchi is a UNESCO Global Geopark renowned for its volcanic landscapes and mineral-rich waters. Wudalianchi, meaning "Five Great Linked Pools," comprises five volcanic crater lakes created when lava flows blocked the Bai River in 1719–1721. The lakes, totaling over 40 km² with 1.7 billion cubic meters of water, are China's second-largest volcanic dammed lakes. Surrounded by 14 volcanoes, including the iconic Laoheishan (Old Black Mountain) and Huoshaoshan (Burning Mountain), the area showcases dramatic lava fields, hot springs, and rare mineral waters.
