Shanghang Hakka Genealogy Museum
The Shanghang Hakka Genealogy Museum, the first specialized museum in China with genealogy culture as its core, houses over 300 genealogies, a forest of millennium ancestral training tablets, and migration route maps. This is not only the "gene bank" of Hakka culture, but also reveals the code of "where do guests come from" through immersive exhibitions: the hardships of crossing the southern border in the Central Plains, the wisdom of the clan gathered in the dragon house, and the hospitality in the tea ceremony, vividly reproduced in the interaction of light and shadow.
Historical origin
The Hakka ancestors migrated southward five times since the Eastern Jin Dynasty and formed a unique ethnic group in western Fujian. As one of the "ancestral lands of Hakka people", Shanghang has preserved a complete genealogy system, recording the inheritance and migration trajectory of bloodline. The museum was built in 2015 and systematically decodes the Hakka cultural genes through three main threads: genealogy, ancestral halls, and customs.
